Quick answer

Most answers are here. Start with the free assessment, pay one time through Stripe, and expect to hear from your clinician within one business day. When a letter is appropriate, it arrives as a signed PDF by email, usually within 24 to 72 hours of the evaluation. If you are not approved, you get a full refund. For anything else, email hello@petesaservice.com.

Key points

  • The assessment is free and takes about 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Letters arrive by email as a signed PDF when clinically appropriate.
  • We help housing providers verify letters at no extra charge.
  • Email hello@petesaservice.com for anything not covered here.

The assessment

The free assessment takes about 5 to 10 minutes and asks about your symptoms, daily life and animal. You do not pay anything to start. Answer honestly and specifically; your clinician uses your answers to prepare. Our how it works page explains every step.

  • Do I need a diagnosis first? No. The clinician's evaluation determines whether documentation is appropriate.
  • Can I cover more than one animal? Yes, up to four pets in one evaluation.
  • Does my state change anything? Some states add relationship periods or other rules; check the state law hub.

Payment

Payments are one time and processed securely by Stripe. Prices are $89 for one pet, $109 for two, $129 for three, $149 for four, $79 for a renewal and $99 for a psychiatric service dog evaluation. There is no subscription and nothing renews automatically. See the pricing page for what each option covers.

Letter delivery

Most people hear from their clinician within one business day. When documentation is clinically appropriate, you receive a signed letter as a PDF by email, usually within 24 to 72 hours of the evaluation. States with a 30 day relationship rule, such as California for emotional support dogs, take longer.

Your letter lists the clinician's name, credentials, license number, license type, issuing state, the date, your disability related need without a diagnosis, the animals covered and a verification contact. If you do not see the email, check your spam folder, then write to hello@petesaservice.com.

Landlord verification

Housing providers can verify your letter by checking the clinician's license on the state board website and by contacting us at hello@petesaservice.com or through the verification form. We confirm that the letter is authentic and share license details at no extra charge. We do not share your diagnosis or medical records, and anything more requires your written consent. Our housing support page explains how to present your letter.

Refunds

If the clinician does not approve your completed assessment, you receive a 100% refund of the evaluation payment to your original payment method through Stripe. Your bank controls how quickly it posts. The full terms, including cancellations, are in our refund policy.

Privacy

Your letter never names your diagnosis, and Pet ESA Service does not store card numbers. Please do not send medical records or diagnosis details through general email. Our privacy page explains how information is handled and how to ask questions about your data.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have a phone number?

No. Email hello@petesaservice.com and we will reply by email. Your clinician connects with you by phone or video when your evaluation calls for it.

Can I use my ESA letter for flights?

No. Since the DOT rule took effect on January 11, 2021, airlines treat emotional support animals as pets. Trained service dogs travel under the DOT Service Animal Air Transportation Form instead.

What if my landlord denies my request?

Ask for the reason in writing and offer verification. If the denial stands, a state fair housing agency, a local fair housing organization or a lawyer can help, as our housing support page explains.

Can I get a letter for a psychiatric service dog?

Yes. Our PSD evaluation, $99 one time, documents a disability related need for a dog trained to perform tasks. It does not train or certify the dog.

Ready when you are.
